2015 Western Regional Jeopardy competition

Competition Format:
Game Format:
Two jeopardy boards from the 2013 competition have been provided below for reference.
- Only one team per school is allowed.
- There will be three or four preliminary games containing three teams each (depends on amount of participating schools).
- The winner of each preliminary game will move on to the championship round.
- The winner of the championship will go on to compete in the 2015 Annual AIChE conference in the fall.
Game Format:
- Teams will consist of four members; it is highly recommended that at least one senior competes on the team being that there will be some senior level topics
- Each board consists of six categories with five clues each.
- There will be at least one category on each board that is not related to Chemical Engineering or science.
- There will be two daily doubles per board. Teams may wager up to their current amount of points or 500 depending on which is higher.
- Only the team who selects the daily double may answer that clue.
- The Jeopardy round points range from 100 to 500, and Double Jeopardy ranges from 200 to 1000.
- The preliminary games will consist of one Jeopardy round and a Final Jeopardy round.
- The championship game will consist one Jeopardy, one Double Jeopardy, and then a Final Jeopardy round.
- In final jeopardy teams can wager any amount of points and the winner will have their money doubled. If any team has negative points going into this round they will not be allowed to participate.
- Points are deducted for incorrect responses.
- Responses should be given in the form of a question, otherwise the response will be considered incorrect and the clue’s value will be deducted from the team’s score.
- Participants are not allowed to buzz in until the host finishes reading the clue. Buzzing in early should be considered as an incorrect response that leads to the clue value being deducted from the team’s score.
- The team that successfully buzzes in will have a time limit to answer. Failure to answer in within the time limit will be considered an incorrect response and points will be deducted from the teams score.
- If a there is a tie between teams in the end a tie breaker question will be presented and the team with the correct answer wins.
